We're joining Adamah Detroit for a community education and volunteer event to help beautify and preserve the historical B’nai David Cemetery and adjacent Marjorie Street Garden. The event will include cemetery tours, garden activities, and volunteer opportunities to care for these spaces that hold deep historical and cultural significance. Whether it's learning about the history of the cemetery or getting hands dirty with gardening, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Check-in will begin at 9:30am, allowing time for participants to settle in and get oriented. Garden tours and volunteer activities will start at 10am and continue until 12pm. Cemetery tours, led by David Goldman, will begin at 10:30am, running every half hour, with the final tour at 11:30am. Volunteer opportunities include litter cleanup, weeding garden beds and grave tops, painting fences and gates, and possibly seed planting.
All ages are welcome to attend. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear that you don’t mind getting dirty.
